3rd Annual Exhibition: Salem’s Legacy: Gifts of Art for Public Spaces

2009 – 2010

Inspired by the City of Salem’s 150th anniversary, the third exhibition in the Annual Mayor’s Oregon Artists Series brought together works from the City’s public art collection. The show was curated by Roger Hull and Nancy Lindburg, with assistance from Kristin Allen.

Forty works from the City’s collection plus photographs of several non-moveable sculptures formed the exhibition. It opened nearly four decades after the Mayor’s Invitational of 1972 that established the beginnings of the collection.

The exhibit was accompanied by a major full-color catalog with an essay, A City’s Art Collection, by Roger Hull.

The advisory committee included Kristin Allen, Assistant to the Curators, Shelley Curtis, curator of Oregon State University’s Art About Agriculture collection and Mary Lou Zeek of Salem assisted the Oregon Artists Series Foundation with exhibition coordination.
